Complex needs. One connected paediatric team.
BOOM Kids Clinic provides multidisciplinary allied health and rehabilitation for children and young people supported through icare and CTP schemes.
For case managers, this means access to a highly skilled paediatric team that can manage complexity, collaborate across disciplines and provide support wherever the child needs it.
Paediatric rehabilitation needs a different approach.
Children are not simply smaller adults. Their rehabilitation happens alongside growth, development, education, family life and changing functional needs.
BOOM combines extensive paediatric experience with multidisciplinary and advanced clinical capabilities to support children with complex and evolving needs.
Access Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Dietetics within one connected team, with clinicians able to coordinate intervention and recommendations across disciplines.
Our clinicians are highly skilled in supporting children with significant movement, mobility, communication, feeding, equipment and participation needs.
Advanced capability across mobility, seating, positioning, AAC, alternative access, upper limb supports and other assistive technology.
Clinically reasoned recommendations that clearly communicate what is required, why it is needed and how it relates to the child's function and rehabilitation goals.
We work collaboratively with case managers, families, medical teams, schools, suppliers and other providers to help keep everyone informed and moving in the same direction.
Our therapists can work across clinic, home, school and community environments to understand how the child functions where it matters.
Children with complex rehabilitation needs can have a lot of people around them.
When multiple therapists, medical specialists, equipment suppliers, educators and family members are involved, recommendations can easily become disconnected.
BOOM brings multiple allied health disciplines together within one team. Our clinicians can communicate, coordinate recommendations and work towards shared priorities while continuing to collaborate with the child's external rehabilitation and medical team.
For case managers, this means fewer disconnected services and a team that understands the bigger picture around the child.
Our Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and Dietitians provide individualised rehabilitation focused on meaningful functional outcomes.
Depending on the child, this may include movement and mobility, strength and endurance, gait, transfers, upper limb function, communication, swallowing and feeding, self-care, daily activities and participation at home, school and in the community.
Therapy can evolve alongside the child as their rehabilitation, development and goals change.
Our team has extensive experience assessing, trialling and prescribing equipment for children with complex and changing physical needs.
This can include wheelchairs and mobility equipment, specialised seating, standing equipment, bathing and toileting supports, sleep and 24-hour positioning systems, and other assistive technology.
We work with the child, family, suppliers and rehabilitation team throughout assessment, trials and prescription, with ongoing review as the child grows and their needs change.
Communication access can be closely connected to a child's movement, positioning and physical abilities.
Our Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists are highly skilled in AAC and alternative access, including communication devices, eye gaze, switches, head tracking and other access methods.
Working across disciplines allows us to consider communication, positioning and physical access together to find a solution that works for the individual child.
Our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams provide targeted assessment and intervention for children experiencing difficulties with strength, movement, coordination and functional use of their arms and hands.
Programs can incorporate approaches such as bimanual therapy, modified constraint-induced movement therapy, splinting, assistive technology and specialised upper limb rehabilitation equipment.
Intervention is focused on helping children translate improvements into meaningful use of their upper limbs during everyday activities.
For appropriate children, our intensive programs provide a concentrated period of goal-focused rehabilitation with repeated opportunities to practise and develop targeted skills.
Programs are individually designed and may involve one or multiple disciplines, with goals targeting areas such as movement, mobility, strength, upper limb function, communication or functional independence.
Sometimes the most important information cannot be gathered in a clinic.
Our therapists can assess children within their everyday environments to better understand mobility, access, transfers, positioning, self-care, communication and participation.
This allows recommendations to reflect what the child actually needs across their day, rather than being based solely on their performance within a therapy room.
The information you need to make informed decisions.
Our clinicians provide clear, clinically reasoned reports and recommendations to support rehabilitation planning, equipment requests and decision-making.
We aim to clearly communicate what is being recommended, the clinical reasoning behind it, how it relates to the child's functional needs and goals, and the intended outcomes.
Where multiple BOOM disciplines are involved, collaboration between clinicians can also help ensure recommendations are aligned.
